Camper Trailer Suspension

Far and Wide camper trailers are fitted with 7 leaf spring suspension with offroad gas shock absorbers as standard.  We can also offer Sugarglider coil spring suspension on all camper trailer models.

Tyres

The Tanami Signature camper trailer comes standard with 265/75/R16 Mud Terrain tyres on Magnum Alloys.

The Desert Trek and The Simpson camper trailers come standard with 265/75/R16 All Terrain tyres on 6 Stud Sunraysia Steel Rims.

Axle

Camper trailers are fitted with 50mm heavy-duty axle. As strong as it gets.

Brakes

The Desert Trek and The Simpson model camper trailers come with a choice of Heavy duty Hydraulic or Electric Drum Brakes with handbrake.  The Tanami camper trailer comes standard with Hydraulic Disc Brakes.

Chassis and Body Construction

Galvanised box section chassis and upper frame. Fully seam welded aluminium 5-bar checkerplate outer cladding. Lightweight and strong!

An option introduced in 2008 is a revolutionary all Aluminium Chassis. This creates a much lighter camper and is rust-proof. Tried and tested within the Emergency Services, as well as our own hire fleet of camper trailers; the Aluminium Chassis provides the same strength as mild steel with a portion of the weight. 

The Desert Trek camper trailer is amongst the lightest of Hard Based Camper Trailers on the market.

Canvas

Our camper trailer tents are manufactured using a combination 10oz and 12oz Australian Made Duraproof canvas throughout with a choice of colour combination. Tentex mesh is used for all camper trailer tent screens.  Camper trailer tent canvas thickness can be customised to suit our customer's requirements.

Awning/Annex

Far & Wide camper trailers come complete with a zip on awning, poles & ropes.  The camper trailer awning/annex can be customised to suit your particular needs.  Please refer to camper trailer Canvas Options for pricing.

Coupling Type

Our camper trailers are fitted with a Treg poly block off-road coupling. Offers 360o rotation and 70o vertical oscillation.

Kitchen

All camper trailers from Far & Wide Campers are fitted with a Stainless Steel slide-out free standing kitchen containing 4-burner stove, Grill with sink and drainer.

Camper trailers kitchens on all models are fitted with a 12-volt Shurflo water pump with a permanently connected flick switch tap for your convenience.

Our camper trailers are fitted with quality fully sealed AGM batteries.
Voltage meter inside camper trailers.
Battery charger - various according to camper trailer model.
240 volt power inlet - to charge batteries from mains power.
240 volt power outlets.
Heavy duty 12 volt auxiliary power outlets inside & outside.
12v cigarette lighter type power outlet.
Anderson plug inlet is fitted to our camper trailers to allow battery charge whilst in transit.

Solar

Fully installed Solar Input Plug and Regulator.

Either standard or optional - according to camper trailer model.

Refrigeration

Water/Fuel/Gas capacity

70 litre PVC water tank recess mounted under the camper trailer body - Upgradable to 127 litres.
Jerry can holders (water or fuel).
2 x 4kg gas bottle holders (2 x gas bottles included).

Gas and jerry can holders are fitted to the camper trailer a-frame.

Bed

120mm (5") Innerspring queen-size mattress.

Camper trailers available with foam mattress if required.                                                                  

Tow Bar

Far and Wide Campers were groundbreaking in the introduction of a recessed "removable" tow bar allowing the easy transit of bikes.  The recessed tow bar is standard on all Far and Wide Camper trailer models.

Paint/Finish

HARDLY A DROP!!

Our logic here is quite simple. This camper trailer is designed to withstand the rigors of the Australian outback and bush, as well as eating up the bitumen at 100km/h. Naturally, "going bush" has a tendency to result in unattractive scuffs and scratches to your camper trailer paintwork.

With this in mind, we have made very deliberate use of unpainted aluminum checkerplate on exterior surfaces of our camper trailers because of it's durability and it's naturally attractive finish.

Should you one day decide to part with your "Far and Wide Camper Trailer", you do not want the burden of having to re-spray your camper trailer prior to sale.

Other

All camper trailer external fittings such as storage access doors are flush mounted to reduce the possibility of damage in an off-road environment.

Camper trailer roof racks provide additional storage space for lightweight gear.
